Shipyard Brewing Company, a renowned brewery based in Portland, Maine, has been dedicated to producing hand-crafted beers for over 20 years. With its origin dating back to 1992 at Federal Jacks Brew Pub in Kennebunkport Harbour, the very birthplace of Shipyard ales, the company has established a strong reputation in the industry. Expanding their reach to the UK, forging a long-term trade agreement with 'Marston's Beer Co'. As part of their marketing efforts, they recognised the need for a new website that would effectively support their endeavours. The objective was to design and develop a fully responsive website that would embody the rich heritage of Shipyard. It was also crucial to maintain and complement the core brand message, while showcasing their range of products, particularly given the growing popularity of USA-styled craft beers in the UK market. The aim was to engage with the UK audience, expand their online visibility, and effectively communicate their brand.
Shipyard Brewing Company takes pride in its down-to-earth, American craft beer, deeply rooted in time-honoured traditions. To complement this vision, I designed the website with a nostalgic postcard-inspired feel, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that beautifully reflects the brand's rich American heritage. However, the website goes beyond being a mere storytelling platform. The user-friendly journey, which ensures that ale enthusiasts can easily access comprehensive information about Shipyard's craft ale range, a layout effortlessly accommodates changes in the beer lineup when needed. To enhance the user experience and adding an element of excitement, an interactive game was developed to engage customers with the brand and its products. Additionally, the website features a convenient 'find a stockist' function, allowing beer lovers throughout the UK to effortlessly locate their favourite Shipyard beer, regardless of where they are. The website received positive feedback for its elegant, welcoming, informative, and user-friendly design, successfully amplifying brand communication online. It serves as a digital platform that captures the essence of Shipyard's story, heritage, and commitment to delivering exceptional craft beers to enthusiasts across the UK.
